    Other Info
  • This radio is also known as the Standard AX400B
  • Be sure to check out its predecessor, the WS1000
  • Hidden Functions
  • These were submitted by Tobi from Germany
  • Follow these instructions AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither I nor my site will be held responsible for what you do to your own radio.
  • I have used these on my AX400B (WS2000) without any problem
  • Steps to activating hidden functions:
    1. Go into SET mode by pressing FUNC + 0
    2. Locate 'LAmP' setting
    3. Set it to 'tGL'
    4. Locate 'PrESEt' setting
    5. Set it to 'OFF'
    6. Press CL
    7. Press FUNC + 1
    8. Press FUNC + 6
    9. Press FUNC + POWER
    10. Press FUNC + 6
    11. Press FUNC + 0
  • The radio should now be in SET mode with the lamp on
  • Feel free to turn the lamp off and set 'LAmP' as you desire
  • If the radio is reset, these functions will be LOST and must be reactivated
  • Go into SET mode and see the following new entries:
  • OPbEEP - opening/closing beep (radio turned on/off)
Can be turned OFF or set from 1 - 4
  • OFF: No tones
  • 1: Normal 4 beep tone
  • 2: Alternate 4 beep tone
  • 3: Two beep tone
  • 4: 'Phaser' fire
  • wAtCH - clock with timer on/off settings
  • When the clock is enabled, it is displayed instead of the normal frequency with hours, minutes and seconds. To see the frequency, you must disable the clock
  • Turn the clock on and the radio will leave SET mode and show the clock (all 0s and flashing) and not 'ticking'
  • Go into SET mode and turn rotary control
  • Display will show 'on' and the turn on time (initially all dashes (-)). Use keypad to enter the turn on time in hours and minutes
  • Turn the rotary control to see the turn off time (initially all dahses (-)). Enter the turn off time in hours and minutes
  • Turn the rotary control to see the current time. Enter the current time in hours and minutes
  • To clear either the turn on or off time, simply display the time and press FUNC + CL twice
  • The turn on and turn off times are still in force even if the watch is disabled. Watch on/off is simply used to control whether the display shows the clock or the frequency
  • All time settings will be lost if you change the batteries
  • mr-SqL - memory channel squelch programming enable
OFF is for a normal squelch operation. Turned on, it enables 'SqLEnt' for individual memory channel squelch control
  • SqLEnt - individual memory channel squelch setting
    'mr-SqL' must be enabled first.
Using FUNC + rotary control will change it but not be reflected on the display. Here is what Tobi wrote but I did not find my radio to function as he specifies here:
If the squelch control is turned fully counter-clockwise, and the rotaray control is used by pressing FUNC, the squelch will be opened for the current memory channel. If the squelch control is NOT turned fully counter-clockwise, and you use this function, the squelch will be closed for this saved channel and can only be opened by pressing 'SQL OFF' button
  • tEL - unknown function. Toggles between 12.5 and 25 settings. I think this might be only on WS2000 (AX400B). If you find out what this does, please notify me!
  • uSEr - unknown function. Toggles between OFF and 1 - 4. If you find out what this does, please notify me!
