THE 780 i saw on display had PLENTY of VOLUME
aswell as SUPERB CLARITY,YOU WILL LOVE THE SOUND.

THE Signal strength meter has SIX segments, yes
,from what i saw it's very accurate.

I never owned a 895 so i can't comment,i know
nothing about the way a 895 behaves, sorry.I know
the 780s reception had a STRONG-SOLID-FEEL to it.

For the first time in MOTOROLA scanner history,
you can lock-on,follow and program in INDIVIDUAL
"RADIO-IDs" on top of the regular TALKGROUP-IDs
that the other trunk scanners can only do. AGAIN,
if the 780 was a car,it would be a CADILAC!

ON TOP of the two 16-character alpha tag lines,
there was an additional line, just for displaying
the talk/radio group ID only.

PLUS BEEP ALERT! You can add a BEEP-BEEP-BEEP to
the begining of any frequencie[s] transmission
to get your attention. THIS IS A GREAT FEATURE!
