ALL radios have some degree of problems with images and intermod.
Read my 245 review and look under the VHF performance section for
a run-down of the interference I detected using Uniden's latest
245XLT. I was never particularly impressed by the BC9000 or
BC3000 (due to what I categorize as excessive imaging and some
intermod) but I do like the BC895 (which many claim is too deaf).

That goes to show you the level of differences in the environments
in which people monitor. Those who don't have a lot of RF hostility
can get away with a weaker front end. Those of use who need a
tougher front end on a receiver appreciate its superior filtering
ability to keep out images and intermod yet give this model to
those who live in less RF hostile areas and they'll claim the
radio is too deaf for them.

You also run into people who only use their radios within very
narrow monitoring bands and as luck would have it, they have
little or no interference allowing them to claim that this radio
is the best they have ever used. Give this same radio to someone
who listens to a lot of bands across VHF and UHF or perhaps they
are in an RF hostile location and they'll claim it's a poor radio.

That's why my testing always includes results for both normal and
RF hostile areas across the entire VHF/UHF spectrum of interest.
And many times with optional antennas to better help guage how
they will perform as others will use them. With the experience I
have built up with such testing, I am in a better position to
compare each model against all those who preceeded it and make a
call as to the overall type of performer it is.

With some of your own experiences with various radios matched up
to my testing, it's hoped that my review comments will better help
you decide whether a model you're considering will be a good match
or not as far as performance goes.
