Rookie Question----Tracking 800Mhz Digital Trunk?

ALL: Colorado Springs and El Paso County recently switched to 800 MHZ trunkee systems. I have been looking at scanners and was just about to buy a 780 when some "helpful" guy told me that you can't track them because they are digital.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? please help...I am missing my scanning very much!
