Well since you asked for us to chime in on how we would plug in our frequencies let me give you a brief description of one of our trunked systems here. It has 25 trunked frequencies and around another 26 conventional frequencies that are not shared with 25 trunked ones. They are used mainly for localized tacticals, air-to-ground work and wildland canyons which the normal repeaters are deaf in. We also utilize the ITAC channels extensively in major incidents with other depts. The ability to keep one bank for all of this would be a major life saver for me. To utilize just 1 non-moving control channel, and plug the rest of the bank with ITAC and the Conventionals will allow me to utilize other banks for other departments and listening. As it stands now with my bc245 I have to use 2 banks for 1 department.

As you can see, in some areas, this will benefit the users better then those in other areas, and maybe thats the one thing we need to credit the designers for most of all. Not just making a scanner to work for a select few, or removing gadgets to fit a wider group, but in the end, having a slew of things that will hopefully meet everyones expectations.

I too would like to see how everyone else has set theres up, or if they have mixed conventional/trunked systems like what I face. To be honest I'll be happy when a lightweight handheld version the 780 comes out and I can leave my XTS300 at home. Hmmm maybe one the size of the vx5r? now that would be definetly interesting!
