Hi David,

I live in a really bad location in Sydney (AUS) pretty much in the middle of the 3 TV towers yet the 780 is one of the best receivers I have had in RF intermod regards. In fact, it is as good as my old Icom R7100 which remains my reference receiver of all time.

Are you using the supplied whip or an external aerial? I did note that extending the whip to maximum gets some intermod, but by no means total inundation. As a comparison, the MVT7100 and AR8200MkI get blasted with their related standard antennae.

As for the broadcast band filter, have you tried Tandy or Dick Smith (I am jumping to the assumption that NZ has these stores...). Perhaps a notch filter using a piece of co-ax would do the trick. If you are interested, I will refer to my old engineering books to refresh memory on what formula to use in calculating the notch length.
