Mode override?

Is it possible to change the mode from the default in the '780? For example, a favorite freq of mine is 139.1 (NM ANG). The 780 wants it to be in FM but they are using AM. Since I can't find anything in the manual to change mode, I thought maybe someone knows a "trick."
