Eric,Try replacing your interface cable. It sounds like you have a bad cable. Replacing the interface cable ahs solved this problem 98% of the time. Also, check to make sure that there are not any devices, such as a PDA, that are requesting the use of the COM Port you are connected to. Finally, if you are connected to COM 1 (for example), make sure that your modem is not on COM 3, as our software and Uniden's Smart Scanner software utilize the IRQ's to talk to the radio, and COM 1 & COM 3 use the same IRQ.
