I agree. Mobile Data Terminals have made monitoring my local police a lot more enjoyable. My town's police are still dispatched and report their status via voice, but they use the MDT's to directly querey an in-state driver's licenses and registrations after making a motor vehicle stop. Therefore, the voice dispatch channel is no longer clogged with endless recitations of DL number and names and addresses for every speeding ticket.

They also use the MDT to enter their reports, so there's no constant asking of their case number and times. All of the use of the MDT's is only when they're stopped as we have single officer patrol cars.

It's a pleasure compared to nearby towns which don't have MDT's yet.
