I had no problem. I just clicked the box that said record to wav. Now you do have to connect the speaker output on the scanner to your sound card. Also be sure you have the line-in active on the volume control for windows. If you can hear audio through your speakers on the computer, it will record.
When it does record, it will store the files in the winscan directory under program files. If the signal is not longer than about 3 seconds, the wav file will be blank.
It is nice. If you have the alpha tags programed, the files will have names that include the channel and time.
I suggest using something like Windows media player 7 where you can select all the file, and there will be a lot (a new one each time the squelch level is activated). That way, it will play all the files like a jukebox.
They will take up space. A thirteen minute recording I did (don't ask) took up 8mb+ of space, but I could always convert that to an mp3 later if I want to save it.
