780 reception

I am running a pro-2006 and a bc 780 side by side, using the same antenna swapping the coax from one to the other monitoring the same 800mhz freq. the reception on the radio shack 2006 is
blowing the 780 away. I thought the 780 was supposed to be the great one. anyone has any knowledge to this and what may be done to modify the reception on this unit.
