Which coax should I use with BC-780XLT & base antenna?

Hello. How important is coax size and quality for a BC-780XLT with a base all-band antenna setup? I have gotten different answers from different sources (none from Strong Signals, though).

My coax run will most likely be less than 100'. It might even be less than 75'. I am trying to decide between Belden's 9913 RG-8/U with an 84% velocity factor and an attenuation of 1.3dB @ 100MHz @ 100', or Belden's 8219 RG-58/AU with a velocity factor of 73% and an attenuation of 4.47dB @ 100MHz @ 100'. One tech told me that the 3dB difference would mean losing half of the signal if I went with the 8219. Another tech told me that only applies to transmission power loss, and that for receiving signals on a scanner, the 9913 would be serious overkill, not to mention spending three times as much for it as for the 8219.

Any advice that you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
