Even within the same system there's an approximate 1 second latency while the radio collects data from the control channel. This is only going to be noticed if you are tracking more than 1 ID and then only as the current ID times out and the radio looks for a new ID. Once it finds a new ID and begins tracking it the problem is non-existent due to a thing called quasi-transmission trunking used by most systems. Basically, when a user unkeys, if the response occurs within about 0.25 to 3 seconds (depends on the system) the control channel does not get involved and the reply will be on the same voice channel. In that case the '780 should stay on the voice channel too. If the subscriber radios do return to the control channel then they too will have a short latency period just like the '780. The trunked system allows for that so that the users don't talk before an assignment has been completed (talk permit tones etc). Therefore, the '780 should not miss anything either.
