I am considering getting some software for my BC780XLT. I have looked at the webpages for the various choices, but they didn't answer all of my questions. I want software that will both program and control the radio, so that should shorten the list a bit. I am just wondering if all of the software choices that both program and control the radio will do the same things in the end, or if one of them offers something that the others don't. I know that Scan Cat, for example, will also program other radios, but my only PC programmable scanner right now is the BC780XLT. I also realize that not all of the software is necesarily available yet. My main interest is actually conventional, rather than trunking, and I would really like to see software that would log PL and DPL tones used on the various frequencies. Maybe that is too much to ask for this arrangement, but it really doesn't seem all that unreasonable when you consider you have a receiver connected to a PC. I know that even without a PC the BC780 can do auto store or search a range with a PL or DPL on, but it can't do both at the same time. If anybody has researched this further or can compare one brand software against another I would like to hear from you. Thank you in advance.
