Having had this preamp for a few years now I would like to add my 5 cents..In order for the unit to work it's max, it should be as close to the antenna as possible..If there is a lot of signal loss in the line from an outdoor antenna, the preamp is just about useless..It can't amp a signal that is not there..I use it at the back of 895 with the indoor antenna plugged directly into it and it does make a huge difference in reception..Just my thoughts and experiences..No I don't have a 780..YET!!!!!
