The PRO-2067 is center pin negative and the 780 is center pin positive. It sounds like there was no fuse in the 2067 cord so you fried the protection diode in the 780. It probably shorted so that's why nothing works and it continues to produce a burning smell. If you want to open the case and look for the diode, it should be that little cinderized part near the DC input jack. Try cutting one of the leads and see if the radio will power up. If it does, all that needs replaced is the diode. |
