Rich,

I am going to spend some time in the city tomorrow and note which freqs/bands are specifically affected. I'll post it when I get in tomorrow evening and forward to you via email.

The worst range seems to be, predictably, in the 160 - 170 MHz area. US Capitol Police and Park Service comms are pretty much impossible to recieve downtown due to pager overload. Even parked on the specific freq, it fails to reject well. 450 - 470 also suffers, which surprised me. Not much data on the 150 MHz range since I have nothing in my 780 yet using those freqs downtown.

The 895 and SC200 are also desensed - not performing "well" in that environment either, but noticeably better than my 780, when parked on the same freqs. The squelch on the 780 can only be open about 1/4 turn for it to scan at all, while the 200 and 895 scan along and recieve at about half of the relative SQ. Also, with all units parked on the same active freq (169.225 US Capitol PD, today) the 895 and 200 suffered little or no intermod while the 780 was overwhelmed and the voice transmission could not even be heard through the noise. Same on other similar freqs. Among the 895 and 200, the 895 seems to reject a little better than the 780.

When I am only about 2-3 miles out on the beltway, the 780 improves dramatically and quickly resumes normal performance/operation.

More specifics/details tomorrow...also going to try the attenuator and CTCSS/DCS.

John
