Hmm. I know you're joking, of course, but an MP3-based audio recorder/playback unit built into a scanner is actually a pretty darn good idea. I wish I'd thought of it.I record stuff at home all the time, but when away from my PC I'm forever fumbling for pen and paper to scribble down an address or note some interesting transmission. Having a built-in audio buffer that I could play back on the spur of the moment would solve that problem very nicely. You could record literally hours of scanner-quality audio in the space a typical MP3 players offers today.
Add the ability to embed an channel ID/timestamp to each recorded transmission and a USB port to download the data back to your PC... Hey, Uniden, you listening? :-)
