Rich:Isn't the essential difference here that the Uniden method is tone "search" whereby a tone is tried and the cpu looks for modulation on the other side of the tone filter if it sees none it goes on and continues the search until it finds a "match"...where as the GRE method is a detection circuit that actually analyzes the incoming signal for a "tone" and then displays the freq. of the measured tone (probably against a list of known tones)...or is this not the case and the CPU/firmware logic in the GRE just THAT much faster?
