All I can say is, Amen and again Amen! I live in the south San Francisco Bay Area. This is a tough hostile RF environment. For me, the 895 is not that great using an outdoor discone (easily bothered in the 150's, 460's, and 800's, and worse yet it has no attenuator [yes, I could buy an in-line attenuator]). The Pro-92A and 2067 are the best radios I've had from an RF performance standpoint (despite the less than ultra-sensitive 800 MHz reception). Well, except of course that I have to engage the attenuator for all the VHF freq's (wish GRE would fix that).
So, as Rich is saying, the bottom line is that for some people (like me), the 780 will get glowing reports if it can hold up in my hostile environment (even if it's a little insensitive). But for somebody in the middle of farmlands with nary a pager or cell tower in sight, that wouldn't be a good thing.
