I've got lots-o-radios and the 895 is very easily overloaded by moderatly strong singlas in the 800MHz band. The BC9000 handles strong signals much better as do the GRE scsanners. The BC245 seems a lot like the 895 in that regard. I can't put a high gain roof antenna on the 895, but I can hook the same antenna to the BC9000, Optocom, Icom, 2005, and other GRE scanners with no overload problems. But who knows, it might boil down to one single frequency in my area, while people in other areas without that frequency present, will have no overload problem at all. Its hard to tell without a lot of expensive test gear. |
